All or nothing

Today has been just a gaggle of excitement: I accompanied my best friend Cesar to get his first tattoo, ate this amazing duck fried rice for the second time in two weeks, bought overpriced fromage for a quiche, drank a vibrant Italian red, and alas, the day is not over! I am presently en route to Lafayette for some fun with more friends. I am writing this while experiencing a 25 minute delay of the BART train I need but oh well, I will not let such complications ruin my spirits.

Now for le vin...
I cannot remember the exact vintner but it was a 2008 from Piedmonte. Ruby red color with a robust bouquet and aggressive fruit. Smooth with a slightly dry finish.

cannot wait to see where the night takes me!

4.13.11

Hello all! Today's special guest is my good friend Alan, who has now proposed that every Wednesday should be "wine Wednesday". Of course I wholeheartedly agree; just got to make sure my job does too. We tasted 2007 Roux Pouilly-Fuisse: aroma of green apple, citrusy notes of orange and a hint of grapefruit. This wine had a supple body, not dry. Extremely easy to drink. Four thumbs up!

Cheers!

Sorry I have been so behind on posting since my move! It has been so crazy busy. I accepted my old position as cafe manager back so I currently have 2 jobs. Also me and my husband moved again! This time from his parents home to beautiful Emeryville Ca. We got incredibly lucky with our apartment as it is walking distance to everything! Once we get settled I plan to really focus on being the Vineyard Vixen and I promise more posts!
Last week me and my friend Jen did a wine tasting flight at the SF Ferry Building. Next time we go I think I am going to customize the tasting because these were mostly dissapointing.
Georges Vernay '09 Syrah
-light body
-mild fruit with slightly spicy finish
-floral aroma
-nothing special
Thomas Alexander "Origines" Syrah Paso Robles Ca
-heavy body
-black, stone fruit flavors
-cloying, honey-like taste and mouthfeel
-big thumbs down, neither of us could even finish the 2oz. Taste
2007 La Barroche Chateauneuf Du Pape
-medium body
-flavors of raisin, dried fruit, currant, nutmeg
-best wine in the flight
On a side note I think I found the best wine snack...Boccalone's meat cone!
